Microsoft has released three wallpaper packs for Mac users covering themes like the Grand Canyon, vintage automobiles, and the icy blue of the Arctic ocean.

The Bing wallpaper packs are made available as free downloads from the official Microsoft site. However, they’re not simple archives which (once expanded) reveal folders with wallpapers inside them. No siree, Bob. That would be too simple.

Instead, Microsoft throws in three disk images with installers in them. The wizard tries to convince you to set your home page to Bing, as well as to set your default search engine to Bing.

In other words, the “free” wallpapers are a gimmick to get you to switch to Bing. Not to mention that you actually have to reboot your Mac after installing these wallpaper packs in order to actually use them.

First Launch Experience

Remember, Macdrops is a menu-bar applet. When you first launch it by double-clicking its icon look for a new 'IFL' menu on your Mac's menu bar (as shown above). Click on that menu to get started and to enter your registration code.
